How to Make 24 Hours Enough

Sometimes we feel as though one day is not enough for us to do everything we need or want to do.

The average person works about 8-10 hours, factor in the commute to and from work, the time you spend getting ready before going to the office and the time you spend dressing down when you get home, the time you spend preparing meals, time spent doing chores, time you spend resting, and the time you need for sleep.

It can’t be helped that in the number of things that we expect to accomplish within a single day, something has to give.

You can’t expect to give a 100% of yourself in every single task all the time. That’s going to leave you feeling spent.

But despite that, we still ask for more hours in a day to get things done or to have more time to spend with our loved ones. In our haste to spend quality time, we end up compromising the quality of our work at times.

The best way is to figure out a system that works for you, to make you feel like you’re getting the most out of your day.

Here are 2 essential tips on doing just that.

Make lists and check them twice

If you’re serious about getting more out of your day, you need to learn how to organize, synchronize, and prioritize.

What most people don’t realize is that most of their day spent in the office is just in organizing their desks and getting things in line before, in between, and after one task.

When they sit down and do the actual work, they already feel like half the day is done, but in reality, they haven’t even begun.

Make it a habit to list down the things you need to accomplish within the day. It’s not what needs to be done in general, it’s what needs to be done on that specific day.

Think about the approvals you need by a certain date, the payments you need to process, and plot those down so you’re not running after bosses, suppliers and whoever else you need.

You need to be able to trim down the fluff so you can concentrate on what’s necessary. Sometimes we tend to pack our day just so we’re busy, but really you don’t want to be busy, you want to be productive.

Think week, not just day

The purpose of trimming down your day is so that you can think on a larger scale–the week.

You’ll find out what days your tasks are heaviest, which hours in a day you’re most productive, what your lightest days are, etc.

Once you know these things and gotten the routine down pat, it’ll be easier to map out the whole week, and ultimately clear yourself of work for the weekends.

Because let’s face it, some people work until the weekend because they didn’t do enough during the weekday, and that’s just shortchanging yourself and your loved ones.

Do everyone a favor and work when you’re needed to and live life the rest of the time. Everybody gets the same amount of hours in a day. What you do with it determines the quality.
